I’m quite upset about it, actually, all this racing that’s been going on in perfectly good weather. Vlaanderen, dry. Roubaix, dry. We were nearly guaranteed shit weather with the Olympics in London, but even then, only the women got to get all Rule #9 on our asses – and only for one race. Damnit, I want Epic, and if we keep insis...

@936adl is up for Round Two after the Shorpshire Hills Cogal. If you are able, join him in France for what is sure to be another incredible day devoted to the bike.

What more needs to be said about this mountain. One of the truly iconic climbs of the greatest race on earth, all 264V metres of it. Along the way we’ll also get to bag the Col du Telegraphe for good measure.

After meeting in Saint Jean de Maurienne we’ll use  the roll along the valley road as a nice warm up before  we reach Saint Jean de Maurienne, the town at the base of the climb. From there, the only way is up.  Our first target will be the Col du Telegraph at a mere 1566m, and from there it’s on to Valloire and the start of the climb proper. See you at the top……

As the saying goes, what goes up must come down, and we’ll retrace our steps back to Saint Jean de Maurienne for well earned Malted Recovery Beverage Consumption.

We are proud to announce a change to the Velominati Super Prestige moving forward: sponsorship. We are delighted (if a little surprised) at the interest our partners showed in this endeavor, despite the short notice we gave them. Four sponsors will be gracing the sides of our team bus for this year’s race: fi’zi:k is our Super Domesti...

Vermont is spelled with a capital “V”, surely no coincidence. With the loads of mountains and climbs available, it had to start with a “V”. I mean, if it was mountainous enough to draw a runaway “loose” nun who left the church for a sailor, it must be good, right? (Great nordic skiing there—Trapp Family Lodge, if you are there in the...

It seems a disservice to start the Women’s Giro right before the Tour de France. Even at Velominati’s main bunker HQ, the new TdF VSP sponsorship excitement has overshadowed this race. But at least it is starting (the race and the VSP), nine stages, a time trial, some sprinting, some climbing and some serious transfers. The race starts...

There’s been so much cool stuff going on this week that we’ve hardly had time to scratch ourselves. Riding Roubaix, watching the Ronde, meeting and riding with The Lion of Flanders, and drinking enough Malteni to keep the brewery solvent well into the next decade isn’t an easy gig, but we’ve done it.On our arrival in Westout...

  3. The Lezyne patch kit i got as a sample on the Keepers Tour saved my butt today! I was out for a ride and as we approach the furthest point from home in our loop i got a flat in my Vittoria corsa’s, as they are mounted on my zipp 808′s i  inflated it back… »

With Keepers Tour: Cobbled Classics 2012 stitched up and in the history books, the challenge of documenting the trip became immediately obvious; how do you take the myriad impressions, experiences, and perspectives and put them down in a meaningful way – let alone in a way that can somehow be digested. Surely, to document even just the Keeper...

It came to me in a moment of absolute clarity, the kind of clarity which only arrives to one in an oxygen-depleted state and at high speed – usually down a steep descent. It would be awfully nice to justify wearing my Molteni jersey, rather than having it hanging in my workshop all the time.It had been suggested a few times already by the tim...

Rule #9-Fair-weather riding is a luxury reserved for Sunday afternoons and wide boulevards. Those who ride in foul weather – be it cold, wet, or inordinately hot – are members of a special club of riders who, on the morning of a big ride, pull back the curtain to check the weather and, upon seeing rain falling from the skies, allow a wry smile...

This is an exciting time of year. The Giro is in the books, the Tour is firmly in everyone’s sights, and those of us with the vaguest idea of how the big race will unfold are prognosticating the loudest as we use races that are proven to reveal fuck-all about what will happen at the Tour to predict what will happen at the Tour. With the Dauphi...
