@Steampunk You live on the edge, friend. I’ve had my foot slip off of platform pedals too many times to not wear real shoes while cycling. But maybe I’m just a clutz. »

Just to pile on, I love the GP 4000 as well. I’m on my third set of them, they seem to last me about one year before wearing out to the point that bits of glass and other road debris can work through the tire and start causing flats, so at that point I re… »

I’m a cheap fuck and use a sandwich sized ziplock bag. Seems to work fine. »

@james probert I see people riding around town from time to time like that. Mostly summer commuters on cruiser type bikes. Seems like a good way to lose a toe to me, but what do I know? »

@Ron Yeah, I’ve never greased the spacers either. I’ll take the cassette apart, scrub the cogs in a bath of warm water with a little orange cleaner, then rinse, dry, and re-assemble on the hub. »
@frank As far as I can tell… the ratchets make a nice clicky whir while coasting, so it’s hard to hear if the noise is still there or not. »
@paolo No, Revolution Wheelworks. It’s like a combo click/creak, and it seems to happen at the same time on each revolution of the wheel, and under load as well – I did a bit of climbing with them on Sunday to test them out again and got a constant clic… »
@Joe Yeah we’ll see. Worst case scenario if it’s beyond a simple fix, the wheel came from Revolution Wheelworks and they charge you a maximum of $180 for a wheel repair/replacement outside of warranty, which seems reasonable to me. »
@RedRanger The bit that you screw off to access the inside of the rear hub was lose so I tightened that, no dice. I think I need to take it apart and service it. Never done that before. Scaler gets the pleasure of bailing me out of I can’t put it back t… »
My ‘fancy’ wheels are giving me goddamn fits right now. Creaking and stuff, annoying the piss out of me. My older, heaver wheels are silent. So hopefully the hub just needs some TLC. »

@Ron Most of the large manufacturers make white jackets, which I personally think is the appropriate color if you want to be “visible” and not look like a nuclear waste hauler. I have a pretty thin rain shell from Castelli which is a semi-opaque white, … »

@scaler911 No kidding, awful article and worse comments. It seems like people who don’t wish to wear lycra have to do a lot of rationalizing and putting down of those who do regarding their decision. Wear whatever the fuck you want, but don’t be sad w… »

@snoov So basically cook like the British cook then, yeah? »
@G’rilla My anecdote: PDX cogal: had a tofu po’boy for dinner and absolutely cycled for shit the next day. Seattle cogal: had a burger and dipped my fries in mayo and managed to finish 160k without embarrassing myself too much the next morning. I mea… »

I had a ~200 meter gravel descent on my road bike yesterday. That was pucker-city. I thought I was going to eat shit a few times. »

@teleguy57 Yeah I’ve been wearing my white R3′s a lot recently as the weather has been really nice, and I quite like them. Not *quite* as comfy as my Sidi’s, but I think I’m still breaking them in. I probably have less than 500 miles in them right now. »

Someday I’ll pass it on to my son. I hope he appreciates the sacrifices I made to get that Garmin out of Korea. »

@Tobin Yeah I thought about one of those things, but then decided that I didn’t care enough about the information during the ride. What I really like to do is put it on Strava after my ride and look at it then. I recently swapped to a shorter stem and m… »
I finally got sick of how my Garmin looked on my stem, so I started riding with it in my back pocket this week so I still have “ride records”. Seems to record just as accurately from the pocked as when mounted on the bike… and I like not having it in my… »

@snoov I picked up one of those from Pedro’s, but it doesn’t span the whole length across like that so it isn’t nearly as stable. Looks like that Pro one is really nice, may have to pick it up! »
