  1. Yeah, whoops. @Russ beat me to it. … And yeah. There’s a bunch of us who are “new” to cycling. @sthilzy And then there’s riders from 20 years ago who’ve breeded and blimped, got divorced and are smashing it again, ya know, just for shits and giggle… »

The Bike. It is the central tool in pursuit of our craft. A Velominatus meticulously maintains their bicycles and adorns them with the essential, yet minimal, accoutrement. The mighty VSP generator has been switched on once again. The mil-spec hydraulic fluid has been changed since the Giro. A new power take-off belt has also been installed. And the punch card reader has been refurbished.Broome and Berti are already riding the Critérium du Dauphiné. The top contenders prefer the Dauphiné for the decent recovery all...

  1. @Harminator yes, I saw that Andy Schleck was only a minute 20 or so back at the finish of the queen stage. Think what you like about him but that’s an encouraging sign. »

The Ride. It is the cathedral of our sport, where we worship at the altar of the Man with the Hammer. It is the end to our means. Indeed, The Bike may be the central tool to our sport, but to turn the pedals is to experience the sensation of freedom, of flight. It is all for The Ride. The world is overflowing with small, twisty roads that capture ou...

  1. @andrew With your adjustment, your bars look just right. I don’t think you need to adjust your levers at all. Generally, the lower tip of the brake lever should be in line with the bottom of the drops. great looking bike! welcome. »

  2. In my humble opinion, the bars should be rotated down a poofteenth. A bit more like this: »

  1. @thebaron Meh. Stop being so concerned about what other people are riding.  Who are we to say if someone is “deserving” of a bit of kit or not. If your objective is to think “I’m better than you”, I suspect you need to chill out a bit and examine wha… »

I find it interesting to observe the chasm between parties engaged in a conversation, particularly in response to questions being asked. I’m thinking, at present, of the question, “How many bikes do you have?” My feelings in response are nothing short of complex and maybe a bit confused; reservation that I feel I should have a mo...

  1. Oh, and Beautiful bike Frank! I love the proportions. Don’t pay any attention to the dickwads who’d have you on an imaginary frame that would give you 15cm of seatpost and a 10cm stem.  It looked wrong in 1988 and it still looks wrong now. »

  2. @frank Just a tad too much tension in the RD cable would be your issue, I’d suggest. I don’t get the disdain for Bro-sets that people on this site keep going on about. »

Addiction is typically defined as a bad thing. Addiction to drugs, to alcohol, sex or even work is usually portrayed as a condition to be battled, to overcome. The same sources may recommend a strict regime of regular exercise and healthy living as the perfect antidote to the bad addictions that befall an overwhelming majority of the general popul...
