@Steampunk did you see that? I had such high hopes until the road turned up and then, boom, pedalling squares. I kept trying to pick out the Luxembourgish (Luxembourgeois?) for “Teejay looks fucked” from the live feed. Still a mystery to me. A day sa… »

@frank Awesome idea and execution. I know just the place(s) to do it in NYC if you’re serious. And I’ve never known you not to be serious. (said in a teenage voice that always turns declarative sentences into questions) »

@CanuckChuck thanks! I’ll shoot you a mail. @Nate great advice. i want a carbon bike that fits me (yes, I am “differently heighted”) and meets some idiosyncratic aesthetic requirements (traditional geometry, head tube shorter than your average top tu… »

@Nate I’m still figuring it out. I hope the fitting will either point me toward a very short list of stock frames that I fancy or point out that custom makes the most sense. If it’s the latter, then there are a couple of handfuls of builders that would… »
@Nate It takes the patience of Job, doesn’t it? I was interested to see that Gianni’s Serotta has similarly bowed seat stays as yours will have (if I remember correctly). I can’t wait to see it. »
@Gianni The Big Fit (not a grand mal seizure) is scheduled for next week. On the other hand, at last weekend’s yard sale, the kids kept peeling off their price tags, so that’s out. My broker (Jimmy Facepeel) thinks he can free up some liquidity if I do… »
@Gianni That’s a stunner. The white stem and seat post collar, tape and saddle are the perfect touch. And say yes to lugged carbon; i’d be interested to see a discussion on this type of construction vs. monocoque. »

Date/Time: 8th June 2013
Location: Magdalen Yard Road Car Park, Dundee, DD1 4NBRoute Details: 170km starting in Dundee, reaching Cairn ‘O’ Mount, over the top riding a wee loop then back over and home to Dundee.Meeting at the Car Park near where I live which is free at VV to nine. We’ll then roll into town for a coffee stop at Empire State Coffee which serves the best coffee in Dundee according to the VMH. Then we ride all the way up to Cairn ‘O’ Mount at which point there are several options. For those with the legs it’s over the top and round a small loop before coming back over the Mount to then stop at The Clattering Brig for refreshments. Option Two is to ride up to the top, turn around and wait for those going over at TCB. The third Option is to just stop at The Clattering Brig and not take on the climb but I hope no-one chooses this option. Then the party of Velominati will travel back to the Car Park where showering facilities will be available at my place as well as some food before we walk a short distance for the recovery beverages. The long route climbing the Cairn ‘O’ Mount from both sides is about 170km. All welcome.

@ChrisO This was exactly how I was thinking to make a guess, using Bike Calculator and his Haleakala climb to estimate watts over one hour (couldn’t decide between 275 and 300). The gadget spits out 40.23 and I’ll add 2 km for being on a track because t… »
