Hey man, I am a freelance musician who plays the upright bass. I play in symphony orchestra's and jazz bands. I fell back in love with bikes while playing at a music festival in Lucca, Italy. I rented a bike there for the summer and rode all over that beautiful Tuscan town after not riding a bike since I was a child. After coming back to the US I finally got a bike of my own. My ride is a 1987 Trek 400 Elance. Cheers

We’re into day four of the Six Days of the Giro series, let’s talk trash. Yes the Tour de France started a few years before the Giro and has always been credited as The Tour to win. You win the Giro, you are a stud. Win the Tour and you are a stud for life. Why is that? Is the Tour longer, tougher, more murderous, more beautiful? In the 20...

  1. I am in favor of the Giro myself. I am so glad I can actually watch it on tv this year rather than trying to stream it online, bein sports is my favorite channel right now because of this. Although, I do miss watching the giro in Italiano. I can’t put my … »

Was Paris-Roubaix the best of the Spring Classics in 2013? Milan-Sanremo was amazingly photogenic, Ronde van Vlaanderen was inevitable but Roubaix was just about perfect. We all prefer the wet and gray “This weather is good for us” Roubaix yet this race’s drama transcended the fine spring day in the North of France. There is no be...

  1. @Chris Of course we need to increase the dosage. How many times do we have to go over that?! »

  2. Looks like some killer roads. Did some rougher riding on monday to try an live out my own cobble stone classic. Of course compared to the Paris-Roubaix my route looked and felt like the smoothest ride on Earth but it was nice to shake my bones and teeth a… »

The Velominati site has drawn out many interesting, talented people these last few years, from frame builders to custom V-bar plug makers. We all know @pedale.forchetta as a Moots riding, bidon cage disdaining Italian cyclist. What’s not to love already… and generous too? From the beginning he has been sharing his photos with us all:...

@Chris's posts:

  1. Always look forward to his photos. Always the best photos from races, better than any other website or news outlet you can find. Very supprised to find out he is not professional and working for a top magazine or something. »

Gent (Deinze)-Wevelgem, it starts with 130 km of cruising around Belgium and Northern France followed by a flurry of bergs and then a final 38 km of  flatter riding to the inevitable sprint finish. How hard can the climbing be if Super Mario got over them? Ask the riders from KT 2012, (the ones not in the following car) and they will tell you...

@Chris's posts:

  1. Any thaughts on the zebra kit in the photo? I hope even my cold dead body would fight back and not allow someone to put that kit on me. VSP PICKS: 1. Farrer 2. Boonen 3. Cancellara 4. Gilbert 5. Chavanel »

As many of you know, there’s been a lot of synergy between BIGRINGRIDING and Velominati for several years now. Though BRR and Velominati have very different flavors, we work on a similar principle: foster passion for the sport through a mix of knowledge, history, and humor tempered with a healthy dose of irreverence, all while obviously makin...

There was no clear indication that Rick’s car had actually come to a complete stop. It wasn’t that the car hadn’t stopped its forward trajectory – it had – it was just that the car hadn’t actually stopped moving. Long after the vehicle had come to rest in what could only be considered a legitimate parking spot by...

  1. My car 2001 Ford Taurus wagon 200k miles and on its last leg. My ride 1987 Trek 400 Elance with plenty of life left. The Trek rides a lot smoother and way more quietly than the Ford, so I think I am following Rule #25 even though they may be worth about th… »

Finally, we have Milan-Sanremo. I hope pedale.forcetta is ready to shoot some pictures, especially black and white because it will be cold and possibly wet. Throw in a little wind and a race of this distance will weed out the less hardy. Recently, but not too recently, this race would be won out of a decent size field sprint. And yet, besides Fabs...

  1. @Pedale.Forchetta Love these black and white photo’s, they seem to capture an element of raw emotion that color photo’s seem to miss. »
