Velominatus: Fausto Crapiz

Order: Level 2 Velominatus

@Fausto Crapiz's activity:

The Whale Shark is the biggest nonmammalian vertebrate* on the planet, rivaling the dinosaurs for size. How do you feed yourself when you’re that huge without loading up on carbs all the time? Easy, you swim around with your mouth wide open for 22 hours a day and hope enough food swims in there to take the edge off the hunger pangs. Cycl...

  1. Is there anything in the lexicon that describes one of those on the wing protein shakes? »

Attention all Velominati. The Tour VSP is going on line and it should be a good one. Sure, between Froomy and Bertie a person could hedge their bets but Moviestar is all in for Valverde, BMC for TeeJay, Astana for the Shark and Garmin is finally committing to a team leader in Talansky. Some other teams (ahem…Trek Factory Racing for one) have...

  1. @Deakus The only place where the Dj has a chance of gaining time is probably in the TT »

  2. Wanted to cry today. Nuff said »

Brad Wiggins is sitting at home, watching his team implode at a Tour de France he was not invited to.What’s on his mind? An attempt at the Hour Record, that’s what. Now that the UCI has allowed riders to mount a conventional (track) time trial machine in their efforts and the likes of Boardman, Obree, Moser, Rominger, and Indurain all...

  1. Honestly, what is up with the aero bikes that break enough wind to displace a train. Recently, some non bike oriented adult friends and I visited a trek bike shop. While I drooled on the floor, imagining myself on a 7 series, they learned that this was an… »

  1. Has the mobile site been down? Tried to get on multiple times in the last few days, with little luck. VSP PICKS (1st Rest Day Swaps): 1. Nibali 2. Porte 3. VanGarderen 4. Costa 5. Valverde »

  2. Screw this. It’s just going to come down to the fastest domestique. »

  3. Waiting on the mountains…… getting tired of watching guys crash (and motorcycles almost run them over) in the rain. »

  4. Yeah. Amazing race. I kind of wished they would shut TJ and Cancellara up. Sure, it as a butcher shop. But who said cycling was a walk in the park. I know that if it were, I wouldn’t do it. Surprised that there wasn’t a Boom interview at the end. Ya know,… »

Maybe it’s the narcissist in me or maybe I never really learned how to share properly, but I prefer my birthday over Christmas. My birthday is the one day of the year where everything is about me. No feigning interest in other people’s gifts, no getting distracted by any greater meaning. Just me and my loot, as it was meant to be. Spea...

  1. Finally, a return to the cobbles. Looking forward to seeing some dirt and cobbles. Maybe next year some gravel? ?? »

  2. Bummer that Cavendish is gone. Another character gone. And Jens gone next year….. about to cry. »

  3. Honestly, I wonder how the pros don’t have tendinitis so badly that they can’t hold the handlebars. I get it with only my tiny bit of riding. »

  4. Oops. Victim of social media misinformation. Had seen Boonen in the OPS lineup, thought it strange, then went on to believe it. (Everything in the internet is true, right………….. right? ) »

  5. Does   anyone think that Boonen has a chance at a stage win at the stage with the 15 miles of cobbles? Or will it be time for Froome to deploy a youngster to take Contador oout? Remember Armstrong vs. Mayo? »

Who learns of their cycling potential while in the military, serving in Africa? @wiscot is once again serving up some great cycling history in his post about  Joaquim “The Bull” Agostinho. As dangerous as cycling seems, surprisingly few professionals get killed racing or training. Agostinho was one of the unlucky few. He was a man for...

  3. I like nibali more than that, but the team isn’t that great. VSP PICKS: 1. Contador 2. Froome 3. Nibali 4. Valverde 5. Talanskey »

Why are women’s races run concurrently with men’s races? I would get it if it was the women’s Tour de France, but I don’t get it when it is the women’s Giro in July. Since the Tour de Swiss there has been a lack of stage racing (in my TV watching schedule) and seemingly a perfect time to present a women’s stage r...

Tempo means time in Italian. Riding tempo means riding steadily, like a metronome. It is an important skill to have and since it’s Italian, it sounds cool. What it does not mean is riding at a constant speed, half-wheeling or killing it at the front. Riding at a constant speed is like having cruise control on in a car; the car seems to accelerate...

  1. @Owen Agree with the radio ban. I think that it would make the breakaways much more fun to watch, as neither the break nor the peloton would know where th other was. It would either make breaking much easier our harder »

We are the Keepers of the Cog. In so being, we also maintain the sacred text wherein lie the simple truths of cycling etiquette known as The Rules. It is in our trust to maintain and endorse this list. The Rules lie at the beginning of The Path to La Vie Velominatus, not at the end; learning to balance them against one another and to welcome them...

  4. I’m beginning to enjoy my daily beat down on this site. It has the same flavor as the hard ride blood that you get after you pull a few times and then get spit out the back. @wilburrox  Nice bike. »

  5. @VeloSix Oooh by gum by golly. Maybe it’s time to break out the disk wheels so no-one sticks a pump into my wheels. Any names? I try to keep it civil during rides. »
