Passo San Boldo lies in the northern reaches of the Italian Alps, and was a walking path until World War I, when the Austrians realized that traffic accidents were a less conscience-laden approach to controlling population growth than chucking mortars across a border at people who drink different alcohol than they do.  Access to the steep, one-la...

Ah, February 14 is here again. A very special day for all of us. A day you don’t want to forget. A day when you make that extra effort to show the one you love just how much they mean to you. V Day.On this day, I will rise early, tiptoeing out of bed so as not to make any noise and stir the sleeping. I will dress quickly and quietly, leaving...

  1. Beautiful. I cast an eye over my lovely lady last night as she slept.  She’s properly dirty at the moment; this morning when I woke her she was a little grizzly, a little reluctant. Tomorrow, I shall strip her down and make her feel like a new lady agai… »

Before the New Year, it was my ride up Haleakala. At present, it’s Keepers Tour: Cobbled Classics 2013. 1. Tip on the iPad / iPhone photo upload – get the Photobucket app and a free account.  You can copy the image location and use that. Re the singly bike – this is not helping my desire to n+1 something old and classy.  Not one bit. »

There was no need for Rule #74 until the cyclometer showed up on our handlebars. According to the late Sheldon Brown, the cyclometer has been around since the early 1900s.“Star-wheel cyclometers, such as the Lucas unit, suffered two serious problems. They made an annoying “tink-tink-tink” noise. At high speeds, the star wheel would s...

  1. @eightzero And again for the record – I’ve decided I don’t need more bike shit. I need more time to ride my fucking bike. Amen to that. »
