Whilst Brett hails from the land Down Under, he hates that fucking song. An Aussie now living as a Kiwi, he is at home on the rich dirt of New Zealand's mountain bike trails as he is on the scorching tarmac of Australia. Despite his geographical disadvantage, the cobblestones and kassien of Belgium and Northern France hold a special place in his heart and it's where you'll find him each Spring, either with a bike underneath him or a fine Belgian ale in his hand.

@brett's activity:

We are the Keepers of the Cog. In so being, we also maintain the sacred text wherein lie the simple truths of cycling etiquette known as The Rules. It is in our trust to maintain and endorse this list.See also The Prophet’s Prayer. Continue reading...

La Vie Velominatus isn’t a part-time gig. La Vie means the life, and The V is my life. Otherwise, I’d be Some V Velominatus, some of the time.Even when I’m not riding my bike, like the last two weeks (for reasons which don’t really matter, and offering them only renders them excuses), I live La Vie through other avenues. Eve...

  1. @Chris Very rarely, and only if there is no option (like if you go to someone’s house for dinner and they think that being vege means you eat fish). Or if you entrust someone like @rigid to order a pizza and he thinks that “vegetarian” means “meat lover… »

Update: You can watch the live stream (assuming it works from the velodrome) on the Velominati channel at USTREAM. When you log in, you’ll first see my little test video of my puppy eating grass. Please disregard me yelling at it. That never happened.I have always considered myself to have a good imagination, something I attribute half to my...

This week’s Guest Article comes from our friend, @blacktoolpower (l) and our editor Drummond Moir (r). In anticipation of our book’s imminent release, these two donned their lab coats and headed out to the streets of London to assess the state of Rule Compliance in the city’s commuter crowd. Always remember: leave this kind of ins...

It’s not a secret around these parts that William Fotheringham is my favorite Cycling journalist. Growing up as a budding Velominatus in the isolated island known as North America, I could count on one hand the publications that even mentioned Cycling, let alone provided reliable coverage. Winning Magazine and Velonews were my source for race...

  1. So if Millar wrote Wil’s foreword, and Wil wrote ours, and Brailsford wrote Millar’s, does that mean Wiggo will write our next one? “Velominati are a bunch of bone-idle wanker cunts.” That’ll pretty much nail it. »

    Here is the route.

    Meeting time: 07:20

    Starting address: Milano, north-east intersection of viale Marche and viale Zara (see route map)

    For Festum Prophetae we have chosen to honor The Prophet riding the course of the 1971 Giro di Lombardia that he dominated. The course is 265km long with 4000m vertical gain. We will be stopping a few times along the way for food and water, but stops will be very brief (as in: no seated lunches or the like!) and as few as possible so as the ensure a day of full immersion in the pain cave. Participants should embark sufficient rocket fuel to cover at least the first 130-140km. Arrival at the Sinigaglia Stadium in Como; the Como Lago station is a 5 minute ride from the finish for those returning to home base by train.

  1. @DerHoggz You get it too. Indeed, I did rock fi'zi:k shoes… but they got lost on the way to KT, and I’m not keen to rock them again because of that. Of course it’s hypocritical to wear dead animals but not eat them, so I’m hopefully getting non-leather… »

  2. @Ron @scaler911 @PeakInTwoYears @Rob +1. You all get it. »
