Talking about steep climbs w/o any turns: the Passo di Fedaia in the Dolomites features such a section on its East side. Have you climbed this one before? And if yes, how did it feel in comparison to the Zoo Hill? »

Well, when it comes to custom frames for “valuable riders”, the Koga Kimera built for Theo Bos is probably the most exclusive built. »

@Calmante You’re right in terms of the smooth stroke. However, even when I managed to ride on plain rollers freehand, I found it impossible to ride out of saddle. And I used to train on a spinning bike throughout the winter. But since I switched to cycl… »
THIS is the only kind of indoor cycling acceptable: »

@Dr C I guess apart from proper training, it’s your genes that decide if you have the potential to be as fast as MC or not. So it’s not your fault but rather your parents’, if you cannot sprint faster than 50kph. »

@Buck Rogers Have you ever been to a CX race, racing yourself or just watching? It’s a lot of fun either way, even if it lasts less than 60 min. … And you may have read in some comments here that a few of us just don’t have the time to train for coup… »
@frank I used to go for long-distance rides together with a friend when I was still a PhD student. This is now about 10 years ago. We usually did these rides in the first half of the season with a peak in May/June when we did at least 1, but mostly 2 2… »
@frank You’re completely right. Luckily, my cycling friends know me well. And since I usually plan and lead the “Tuesday rides” for our group, I also take care that everyone has a clear picture what the ride will be like before we start. Since I live i… »
I wish I had enough time to Train Properly. But my work life is already organized and planned, causing a lot of stress, so I don’t want to ruin my precious leisure time by making plans and setting stretched goals. I ride my bikes whenever I find the time,… »

@acciaio Nice one! Polished seatpost + stem and some nice cotton tyres would make me even more jealous. Here are some pics of my IF CX with its new wheelset. »

@Oli And your reply was so easy to guess. »
@Oli Another “+” for the aero spokes? :) »
@frank The Aerolites are made by DT. I don’t know how “heavy” they are compared to the Sapim CX Ray, but CX Ray spokes definitively lighter than the DT double butted spokes (“DT Competition”). So if you want to reduce the weight of your wheel and impro… »
@Nate Acetone will do the trick. And although hexane is used as solvent for most tubby glues I would not suggest to handle this outside of a fume hood. »

@Monkeyscat I never claimed to be a great wheelbuilder (although I built a few pairs myself using DT as well as Sapim spokes that are still true), and all of my more recent wheels were built at whizz-wheels.de and light-wolf.de, but I’d like to test a p… »
@Oli Completely agree. And the rest of what you’ve been writing is fine with me too. (There is one “+” for the Aerolites/CXRays, and that’s the weight, which could add up to a 100 g/wheel.) »
@Oli Whatever. Both spokes would have been a better choice for a Royce-based wheel than any double-butted spoke. And when you talk to professional wheelbuilders they do prefer the slightly bladed spokes because they can build a better wheel since they c… »

@Oli Oli, I didn’t say DT spokes would be crap, I just said that their hubs are overrated. DT spokes are fine, that’s right, but still rather ordinary spokes. I had a few (but not many) failures of DT double-butted spokes in the past. From my experien… »
@Anjin-san DT hubs are everything else but bomb-proof. I ruined two already. Their star ratchet freewheel system is crap compared to the one made by Chris King. In addition the finish is not anymore what it used to be when the hubs were still completely… »

Follow the recommendation here http://www.fixedgearfever.com/modules.php?name=Velodromes&op=showtrack&id=4 Poor concrete or asphalt surface: wide tires 200-250g 20 mm with 10 bars are fine for a wooden track. But on rough concrete you’re… »
Since Alpenrose is an open-air concrete track, my guess is he will end up with sub 40 km, i.e. 39.37 km, which would still be pretty good. (May I assume the distance is evaluated by counting laps and not by a device mounted on the bike?) »
