@Chris Aw hell no. I can’t see how you’d attach the spokes to the rim if they’re anchored to the hub. Your best bet is to try and get a replacement rim from Shimano and reuse the spokes and hub. If the freehubs’ rooted that’s probably a waste of time. »

@Sauterelle Hah, sprung! That’s why I’d still pick Di Luca but never, ever ever ever a Schleck. Heck I struggle to pick Hushovd from time to time. »

@PeakInTwoYears Yep. You’re trying to change the way the engine uses fuel, not starve it, stop it and start it. I’m 6 foot with a solid build and spent 2 seasons as a lightweight rower (72kg) which is not impossible but my ideal riding weight is around 78… »
@Spun Up Also, I know it’s hidden in there somewhere, but (and this is just from personal experience) if I eat and hydrate with proper fluids on a ride, I’m less hungry hen you get off and less likely to smash through a ton of post ride food cos you’re … »
@Sauterelle Oh well that’s two of my favourite habits that kills kittens. »

I’ve made this hackneyed, dated analogy before. The Giro is like the mysterious stranger in the bar – fascinating, sharp and stylish. The tour is the Cougar in the nightclub – predictable, flashy and with a line of 45 year old fund managers lining up to g… »

@ChrisO Might be a perception issue – instead of the Rainbow Curse, if it was called the rainbow Jersey super year, we’d probably remember the wins more than the crashes. On another thread recently when Bettini came up with back to back WC jerseys I was c… »

@Ron He had a bad case of the Rainbow Turd last year didn’t he. He was taken out by one particularly dodgy crash that had me thinking someone had paid off a domestique to get him to hit the deck. »

@frank He’s on the verge of a breakthrough. I’m just here to provide the support he needs. Much the same as I supported Marcus’ breakthrough to being the biggest wankspanner on the planet, and before anyone lines up to thank me, you’re all welcome. »

Nah fuck that. Ride the shit out of it with a 90mm stem on it. 1.5cm is doable in terms of reach, if that’s the only thing holding you back don’t worry about it. You might also be able to get bars for it with less throw, so that the levers aren’t as far a… »
No problem. I’ve seen images of 11 speed Ultegra on the interwebs as well which shares the 4 arm crank, so that if you go down this route in future replacing rings won’t make you feel like you’ve just had your wallet dragged out of your back pocket throug… »
@DocBrian That’s on the 9000 series 11 speed Dura Ace, the cranks use a 110bcd but they are making rings up to 55 tooth for them now. They’re also 4 bolt, so not quite standard compared to what is currently available. »

Is there an article on this site about how fucking comically useless the UCI is? I’m just going to leave this here, it’s from cycling news about a spat between the UCI and USADA… “USADA and WADA also tested Armstrong over many years and also failed t… »

CAmpolybacter is awesome. Had it when I was in a rental, it lasted over a week and during that time the landlord decided to replace the hot water cylinder in the flat which was one door away, about 4 feet, from the toilet. Poor bastard. On the other hand… »

Size down iI think. The longer wheel base and more upright position required means a lot of people can use a smaller CX bike. I’d ride a 54cm cx bike and ride 56 road. And use mtb pedals so you can use mtb shoes that you can run in. »

@Ron One thing about ISPs is that they increase the cost of freight considerably because you need to ship a bigger box. Had that with Fuji Track Pros in NZ for a couple years when the Al frames had ISPs, and they were too expensive to bring into the count… »

Tongue in cheek, of course. I like cow milk, soy milk and meat. Just saying. Dried milk powder makes a good recovery drink as well. »

In amidst all the Schleck love in this thread, is it just me or is Schleck’s bike fit looking less fucked now than it was? At the TOC it at least looks like he’s on a bike the right size. If I’ve got the wrong schleck I couldn’t care less they’re probably… »
