  1. @itburns @unversio i guess i’m a little jealous of guys who can ride rollers. i’ve tried, god knows i’ve tried.  i tried in front of the tv, i tried with music, i once tried drunk (bad idea).  the longest i ever managed to ride them was about 15 min… »

  2. for everyone talking about rollers and trainers…yeah, i’ve ridden them, but to me, riding rollers or trainers is sort of like jumping up and down “training” to jump rope for the day you actually have a rope.  same motion, but just not the same.  nothing… »

  1. eloquently and perfectly put as usual.  for me, starting is sometimes more difficult than that final climb when my legs are already spent. »

The Velominati mourn today the passing of Fiorenzo Magni, perhaps one of the Cycling world’s greatest living example of the spirit of The V and all that surrounds it.Magni was the original Lion of Flanders, a feat heightened somewhat by his being Italian, not Flemish – though the Flemish had little to argue with after he won de Ronde th...

  1. i gave up beer and wine once. worst three days of my life.  i am nowhere close to ideal weight, i figure i need to just get stronger, and no matter how light i am, the only way i see to progress is to get stronger. i’d rather be a strong guy on a “heavy” … »

If you’re looking for doping scandals, controversy, or lanky Brits with questionable dress sense calling people wankers, then this book is not for you. If you are looking for a comprehensive collection of memorabilia and interesting tidbits on the history of the world’s largest sporting event, then look no further than this beautifully...

“Becky? Yeah, its Jean-Paul with the Podium Girl Selection Committee. No, I don’t know how I landed this job either, and I’m not about to ask any questions because its a pretty cool job. 1. @frank i always say…”profanity is a crutch for illiterate and ignorant motherfuckers.”  but that’s just me. »

  2. @frank i say this is just another reason *why* we are the chosen ones.  it’s real and raw, unapologetic, no false facade, it’s who we are. we don’t hide it and pretend we are above it, we ARE it.  wiggins didn’t censor himself, why should we? one of the… »

I know what you’re thinking. How can one label Bjarne Riis an Evanescent Rider? He was a champion, he won the Tour, and went on to become one of the leading Directors Sportif in cycling. Yeah, well, just because he hung around long enough to get the right program and then jagged a job as a mentoring guru doesn’t mean he never reached ab...

By now you’ve probably figured out that our Reverence series is not about reviewing gear in the classic review sense. The very word “reverence” connotes that the author of the article holds a certain affinity for the product whereas reviews are meant to be “objective” analyses. Nor is the point of the series necessaril...

  2. excellent article.  i thought it was just me. i don’t know why one day i will climb like a lion, the next  day i will climb like a cripple.  the days i have where my legs work like they should seem to be few and far between. also…nice use of the word a… »
