Rule #57 is clear: No stickers. The detail-oriented Velominatus, however, will immediately understand the difference between a sticker and a decal. You cherish your machine; the Name Badge allows you to mark your trusted steed with your call-sign. Each Name Badge is hand-made to order and bears the name you designate.

Made only of the highest-quality Belgian vinyl, these decals are rated for seven years of outdoor use. The name badge decals are custom-made to order bearing your disgnation.

The Velominati Name Badge will be shipped direct from the manufacturer. Shipping to domestic and international addresses is included in the price.

Specifications:

Die-cut from high-quality, black or white vinyl

Decal adhesive leaves no residue after removal

Rated for seven years of outdoor use

Note: Carefully clean surface prior to application using alcohol

  1. Note: Carefully clean surface prior to application using alcohol

Just alcohol? That’s remarkably lax for the velominati. It should be: “Note: Carefully clean surface prior to application using Single Malt Whisky”

  2. @Jarvis

Note: Carefully clean surface prior to application using alcohol

Just alcohol? That’s remarkably lax for the velominati. It should be: “Note: Carefully clean surface prior to application. Velominati must drink two glasses of Single Malt Whiskey (neat), then piss on the frame where you wish to apply the name badge”.

    Fixed your post.

  3. when will the decal be ready to send out upon ordering? I just placed an order for one

  4. @kenacycle
last one I ordered got to me in less than a week.

  5. @RedRanger

    Excellent. Thank you RR

  6. @Bill

    Actually, correct wording should be:

Carefully clean surface with alcohol prior to application.

  7. Name Badge update: Happy to announce we are now offering name badges in White, Black, Yellow, Red, and Silver.

  8. @frank I think it should be Velominatus. As in B. Smith, Doctor or C. Evans, Hard Man

  9. @Bald Magpie Explained here

  10. @frank Ooooh, good to know!

  11. @frank

    @Papapeno

Shouldn’t it be Velominatus? As Velominati is the plural form..(says the native dutchy)
BTW: this is only one decal? How can I order 2 in one order?

Velominati is plural. We are a group, not one person. Each member of Velominati is a Velominatus.

We are the velomi-borg. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own, and your rule violations will be cast aside.

    Resistance is futile.

  13. Just received my symbol pack and name badge (within a week!) The silver looks great! The Rules rule!

  14. An order is for a single decal? Correct?

  15. @david littlefield

An order is for a single decal? Correct?

    Correct!

  16. Has anyone else placed a Velominati name badge on a Madone? I f’ed mine up, I think.

Two problems: The profile of the top tube is very narrow where it meets the seat mast. So narrow that the badge would be illegible if applied in that area. The other problem is that the paint job on my bike features a white stripe of Increasing width that runs along the length of the side of the top tube, but at no point is the stripe wide enough for the entire decal to fit inside it. Neither is the stripe, nor the tube, wide enough for the name to fit neatly in one bar of color, while the Velominati designation fits wholly within the color bar below.

The top side of the top tube, where it meets the seat mast has the words “Madone: Five Series” under the clear coat, and in a font that is incompatible with the decal.

Faced with these challenges, I placed the decal along the side of the top tube further forward than I would prefer. It is bisected by the white stripe in a way that looks wrong to me, and, furthermore, it’s far enough forward that the inside of my right thigh has brushed it a number of times, which both feels annoying and is causing the letters to peel up. Sucks and lame.

Anyone have another suggestion? The seat tube is all white, and has room for a vertical placement that might look good. Is this acceptable? Sorry for the lack of photos which might make my rambling more clear, but it’s late, dark, and my steed is in the back of the car.

  17. I think my bike just got faster ….

  18. @BikePower +1 !

  19. How many characters are allowed for the name?

  20. @BikePower that looks great  I put my name tag in the same spot of my supersix

  21. @DCR I think its a fair amount. mine is “J. Santana”

  22. @Spun Up got pictures?

  23. @RedRanger would be nice to have it say: “refer to rule No.5″ That way when I lower my head in shame on steep hills I can read and weep.

  24. @DCR get this as well then and put the v cog decal on the top tube by the head set. that should be enough of a reminder

  25. Would it be presumptuous of a newbie to this site (if not exactly to the noble art of cycling) to apply such a decal to ones steed, particularily if said steed was in the early stages ‘Project Rule Compliance’?

Bar & Seat match frame decals, compact went in the parts bin, but there is work yet to be done.

Should one ‘earn’ ones association of ones moniker with the august society of Velominati?

Not at all. You’re walking the path. Represent. Just post pics in the Bikes section when you’re done.

  27. @snoov Black on black all the way…

  28. @Frank is the Black on the order selection the Matt Black that you mentioned a week or so back or is that still to be updated?

  29. I ordered my name badge weeks ago, my bank acct was chgd weeks ago, and still no badge??

  30. Frank, amny thanks for sending through the decal. Quick delivery, Awesome looking. I think the “apply with Alcohol” part was taken to literally though as I ended up with the “t” and “i” missing… We need a new description in the Lexicon – Velomina : Man who cannot apply decal when drunk!

  31. Hi,I checked your article named “Velominati “º Name Badge” regularly. Your writing style is witty, keep up the good work! And you can look our website about 李宗瑞影片.

  32. Frank you have come up trumps. Very many thanks, incredibly grateful!

  37. @Deakus Thanks man. It’s a work in progress.

  38. Are these still available? I’d love one!

  39. Both the badge and I survived Paris-Roubaix! Here’s what a Dogma 60.1 BoB with Campagnolo Super Record looks like after 170 km, 50-some of which cobbled, in the dust:

  41. Hi exceptional website! Does running a blog similar to this
require a great deal of work? I have no understanding of computer programming however I had been hoping to start my own
blog in the near future. Anyhow, if you have any ideas or techniques for new blog owners please share.
I know this is off subject but I just had to ask. Many thanks!

  46. Can we clarify this please: “Note: Carefully clean surface prior to application using alcohol”.

I thought as a self appointed Velominata the instructions could be modified for any Velominata sisters requiring correct decal application to, though this could occur when in-situ – not necessarily requesting a change of printed instructions:

“Note: Carefully clean surface prior to application using Veuve Cliquot in a fine crystal champagne flute”.

  47. Anyone have any idea how long delivery should take?  I ordered some 3 weeks ago…

  48. I am assuming the colour choice is for the letters and that if there is a background it is clear?

  49. #8 – Seriously? Black, Black, Black…  Old school pros in the ’70’s used WHITE cotton bar tape with ALL color schemes.  Rule #8 should be amended to accommodate white bar tape…
