Velominati Super Prestige: Amstel Gold 2016

Ooooof! The VSP generator and operators need more than a week to recover from that race. Tommeke may never recover, that chance will never come again.

We now move into the Netherlands and the first of three Ardennes races. Whomever did well in Paris-Roubaix probably won’t like all the hills in Amstel. Same with the beer but I’ll leave that beery subject alone this year.

PhilGil has been busy fighting drunk drivers (He Badger’d him!) and is now off the start list then again he is back on as of Wednesday. Sure, the police pay attention when the cyclist in the altercation is Philippe Gilbert, ffs. Matt Hayman and Tony Martin are on the list, ouch, no rest there. So rest, recover, don’t spare the malted rehydrating beverage. No Delgados please.

  4. When I was a young kid, I watched this race taking off. This is my home turf, so will the Eroica in Limburg be on July 3rd. Will that help me? ‘Course NOT. So I am relying on the markets, who are fully transparent and always right, or so modern economy says.

Are you going to do the Eroica Limburg? I copied out the route to here. Quite a bit on tracks – any gen on them?

Hi Teocalli: thinking about going there. My sister still lives there. I need to change my gundecks from click to strap again. Rest of the #9 is still old-skool compliant.  Wasn’t thinking about the 160k, rather the 100k since it will be a long cardrive to and from Limburg. Waddaya mean by “gen” btw?

Yeah, they are nowhere near as proactive as Eroica UK.  I get stuff at least once a week from them.

We’ve booked a hotel in town to make a long weekend of it – and a nice short roll to the start.

  9. I really have no idea – I was only just getting my head around the big cobbles, the little cobbles, the grippy cobbles and the slippy cobbles and the hard men and the suffering and the crashing and the pavé and the frittes and all that then suddenly it all changes and everybody starts talking about the Ardennes…

Here’s for a safe race without any m

oto crashes this time for crying out loud.

Yep, back as of yesterday, as @Teocalli mentioned. Not sure how much weight to give him since he’s not 100% with that finger, but there we are.

Nice one on your race, by the way! It’s looking like the forecast for my own race this weekend has gone from wind and rain to wind and snow, so it’s potentially going to be canceled or one that would be foolish to drive to. We shall see.

    Who the fuck is Lebron??

Good question! I haven’t watched an NBA game since the late 90s. Also…just found out Naismith was Canadian. How did I not know this?!

    Who the fuck is Lebron??

Some basketball player. He’s the one that needed a courtside IV during a Spurs game here in San Antonio when the AC went out during a game.

I think he would benefit from going on a few Saturday morning August group rides in the Texas Hill Country. Really. An IV. Harden up dude.
