Velominati Super Prestige: Giro d’Italia 2016

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare for the Giro, 2016, starting in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands and finishing in Torino, Italy. Here is a provisional start list. The riders make the race so it should be fantastic racing, a race up the whole of the country, for three weeks, what’s not to love? The Giro usually has a crazy stage and we are unsure what this year’s edition holds in that category, maybe more racing at night, or on dirt, bring it on. The Shark, Landa, Malmerde, Uran Uran, even Red Ryder, and more, each have a decent shot at the over all.

We all know the drill, this race starts on Friday so keep your delgado monkey on a tight leash. Consult your personal oracles; there are bike frames, carbon wheels, V-kit and more for the winners of the season-long overall VSP. Further details can be found on the VSP page. Bon chance.

In other news…the VMH gave birth to our first baby boy last Thursday night. Let the breeding and blimping commence!

22:29 EST on 4-28-16 and our house number is 824. 8 pounds, 53 cms long. Pretty crazy to have a little guy who needs to be fed every 3 hours. Life just got a whole lot more interesting. And busy.

I think the rest of the pack will be a little too strong for the Giant D to repeat his Vuelta heroics, whereas the little Colombian is just a snowy day (& subsequent Nibs tantrum at the EWP) away from a podium place.

Agree on Giant. Dumoulin had an awesome Vuelta, but when the road went up, steeply, he blew. Plus, can’t help but help but wonder about the ongoing impact of the training accident this spring. Sorry to say.

It would be great to see Uran on the podium, but I just don’t think the Cannondale support is quite there yet. Too bad, cause I’m a big fan of Cannondale, Dombrowski and Formolo. So much potential and future.

  24. In classic fashion, Ryder will lose a ton of time in the first week, and gain a few seconds back on some stages in week two, and have a stellar day in week three to bring him back to the top 5, but it won’t be enough to get him on to the podium.

    VSP PICKS:

    1. Chaves
    2. Landa
    3. Valverde

  29. And here’s my maglia rosa for the Eroica in Limburg, the Netherlands (Dumoulin’s and my former home turf) that I could not post from my cellphone yesterday.

  30. Anyway, doesn’t matter who you pick, the corners at about 7-5km on Stage 3 will decimate the peloton. Tight narrow city corners with walls on the outside, just outside the 3km “safety” line? Going to be brutal!
