Velominati Super Prestige: Chrono des Nations Les Femmes 2015

This is it, people, the final event of the 2015 Velominati Super Prestige. Let’s start with pointing out that it is disgraceful how hard it is to find a start list, let alone photos from this event. Women’s Cycling is seriously under-promoted.

But let’s not let that get in the way of the fact that this event is going to be the deciding factor for who gets the Jaegher, the Café Roubaix wheels, or the V-Kit with the top five being separated by a mere 14 points:

2015 VSP G.C.

1. Minnesota Expat (169 points)
2. Steampunk (165 points)
3. Yagerbomb (157 points)
4. dancollins (156 points)
5. Two Ball Billy (155 points)

The top three could easily reshuffle, and with a stellar performance from @dancollins (a previous winner) or @Two Ball Billy, we could see them displacing someone from the podium.

Time to put your thinking caps on and get it done. No pressure.

Congratulations to @Minnesota Expat on a fine season. And thanks to the Keepers for a season of fun. This winter: train harder!

Wow, Steamy, you almost did enough, but it looks like the tie goes to @Minnesota Expat due to the timing of him generally getting his picks in earlier. I will take some time today or in the next few days to validate the code doing the calculations to make sure we’ve calculated this correctly.

  8. @Steampunk

Except I spend the whole week before getting high. And that doesn’t work as well.

    @Steampunk

That is brilliant. Just celebrated here by finishing the last glass of champagne from last nights leftover bottle on the coffee table. Apropos, since that bottle was the excuse for skipping my Sunday morning grind through the Texas Hill Country. Cheers mate (with a deep bow and an enthusiastic hand shake).

  9. Fantastic end to a terrific VSP. Really enjoyed getting my arse spanked, metaphorically, week in week out. Congratulations to @ MSE and @steampunk for taking it to the wire.

  10. What a finish. Congrats to @steampunk and @Minnesota Expat, very well deserved. @dancollins and @Two Ball Billy kept the race for third close to the very end, you guys had me biting my nails, chapeau! Thanks to the keepers for putting this on, and I can’t wait till next season.

  11. fantatic finish, fellows and well-deserved to the top steps. And thanks again to Frank and Gianni for making this happen and even getting the finishing prizes for the top 3. I don’t know if it happens better anywhere else.

It does. But we’re not invited. Kidding aside, it’s terrific watching this site grow from strength to strength. VLVV!

  13. Congratulations to the winners! Until next season. Now I have to convince my office mate to let me set up rollers where the conference table currently is. I have lots of beer weight to burn off this winter to have a successful spring campaign.

    Thank you, Keepers!

  14. Congrats to all the winners, and also to @xyxax who edged me out of the top ten on timing. Chapeau fellas.

Thanks to the keepers for organising and managing such an excellent event, it’s absolutely brilliant fun and makes me realise how unpredictable the racing really is.

    Looking forward to VSP16 already.

  15. @all

The results have been confirmed; we had to go to the photo and break the tie by calculating which of our two leaders entered their picks earlier on average. The win goes to @Minnesota Expat. Congratulations!

Great season all; @MNE, @Steamy, @Yagermeister: we’ll be in touch shortly.

To everyone else, stand by for a great season next year with primes throughout the season next year!

  16. @Geraint

Congrats to all the winners, and also to @xyxax who edged me out of the top ten on timing. Chapeau fellas..

G, for this I am truly sorry.  Given that I relinquished first place as completely and eagerly as I had my virginity (almost simultaneously as it turns out) by the end of the TdF, keeping a streak of top tens going somehow became important.  I will try to have a life next year.

Yes, from you getting a wheelset to you getting a frameset.  Ha! smiley face

Ouch, that is a dagger right to the heart, especially after confirming he’s getting his SECOND wheelset.

Not bad there yourself. With the timing working out the way it is, you even get to pick between the classic V-Kit and the VLVV kit:

  19. @1860

Congrats to all including the rouge laterne @brett

    Damn, you noticed…

Thanks to everyone who played this year, it was fun to watch even from two hours behind the peloton. Congrats to Steamy and Minny for the best finish since Bauer and Planckaert. Impressive picking, guys.

  20. Alright, first, sobered up here and it’s time for a big thank you to the Founders for all you do to make the VSP possible. The competition is a great tool for getting people involved, while promoting a community. I’ve rode for 45-years, but not until Velominati.com did I find a group like this of like-minded folks.

  21. Part Two. It said there was a size limit to posts? I know I’m wordy, but no more than 500-words?

What a blast. I still can’t believe I managed to win this thing. I’m glad I played–because of the awesome prizes–but also because I learned a ton about the current men’s and women’s pro pelotons and it got me up early on a Sunday for some races and out for a ride!

  22. Lastly, best of all was the trackstanding and cat & mouse action with @Steampunk @Yagerbomb @dancollins and many others on the way to the finish line. The chatter, the picks, talking smack, and changing picks, is the best part of all. Thanks for all your kind words and see you next year!

    Take my money NOW !

  24. @frank, both kits are great but I’m gonna go with the VLVV kit. It’s sharp and simple, can’t thank you guys enough for putting this all together.

  25. @Yagerbomb

It’s the strangely homoerotic side-view that reeled you in. Admit it.

  26. @frank

Holy hanging chads, Frankman.  Our messages crossed in the nethersphere.  No offense to MNexpat, but I regret this turn of events.  I know Steampunk. He has dined in my home.  And other than some missing silverware, I consider him a good friend.

Then again, he would be a natural in the Al Gore role.

Guilty as charged. That 45 degree angle pose was what sealed the deal.

Fuck, man. As a Canadian, that hurt doubly.

Wow! Just wow. I’ll say it again: for the silverware, I’d look no further than one of the little women in your home. I was framed. That said, I suspect Jaegher would have frowned on my requesting a 147cm frame to pay you back (that’s a lot of steel). Now, that’s an inconvenient truth.

  30. Wow! Who would have predicted a photo finish? Crazy. Congrats to MN Expat and comiserations to Steamy. Thanks to the sponsors for making it such fun. FWIW I have no idea where I finished. Somewhere in the grupetto I suspect . . .
