Route: After our pre-ride espresso, we will first head south toward the Utrecht area and possible additional joiners (Vuursche Boer, Lage Vuursche–arrive 10:30/10:45; leave again no later than 11:00), then head East so as to tackle the Amerongse Berg from the proper side (Overberg) before gradually making our way back to Muiden and our post-ride recovery drinks. Be prepared for 130-150 kilometers. This being winter and all, the ride will be casually deliberate; we are unlikely to average more than 28-29 k/h.

This ride is designed to make maximum use of the approximately eight hours of daylight we’re supposed to get. We are all looking forward to making new friends. We will meet at 8:30 am, leave no later than 9, and arrive back between 3 and 4 pm. If you also ride to and from the ride (recommended) you should carry proper lights. You should also inspect your equipment ahead of time and make sure it is reliable, and everyone should carry more than one spare tube and a decent pump. Someone should bring a multi-tool (s/he alone will be allowed a small EPMS). We’ll stop for food once along the way, so pack your pockets accordingly. In spite of our respect for Rule #9, we will not ride when there’s snow or ice on the ground, and neither will we endure 6 hours in late December rain. Otherwise, we will strive to respect all other Rules, especially Rule #43.

  1. So, how did it go ?

  2. @strathlubnaig It was hard, but very rewarding. During the ride the words ‘legendary’ and ‘epic’ were mentioned because of the Rule #9 conditions. The reports are forthcoming.

  3. @Marco Legweak nice one lads.
