First run in 2002, the GP de Plouay-Bretagne is part of the women’s UCI World Cup series. It’s 4.5 laps totaling 121km. As usual, there is little information or publicity for yet another women’s UCI race. Here is a start list. Here is the official French website. And yes, Ms. Vos won the last two editions. We regret the lack of a write up for this race but we are frustrated by the lack of basic publicity. True, there is a Grand Tour going on and it’s a Tour with a stellar line up but shouldn’t the UCI whip up some excitement for a race in their World Cup?

Armitstead's already won the World Cup overall with a race to spare but she's not been off the podium much at all and will want to continue that. Vos is the boss and will make a point that had she done the whole WC, the title would have been hers. Or something like that.

And you wonder why women's racing struggles when the UCI diss it so. Hopefully Cookson is still finding his feet at UCI HQ and that sooner rather than later he'll get his shit together and realize (like the commercial bike and clothing manufacturers) that the women's market could be huge but needs support at the highest level.
You have one of the greatest female athletes of all fucking time at the top of her game (Vos) and you (the UCI) are letting a golden motivator for your sport go to waste. Seriously, the UCI are as fucking incompetent at the US Congress and that takes some doing.
